  3. IF YOU ARE UPDATING and have used John Ruckart's "QMail" function,
  4. please rename the "qmail" drawer on your BBS to "Friends".
  5.  
  6. IF YOU ARE NEW to this software:
  7. To get an idea of how BBBBS looks, without the need for Baud Bandit,
  8. (you WILL need the ARexx and rexx-arp libraries listed in BBBBS.doc,
  9. and at least 1.5 MEGS of RAM.  DON'T FORGET THE LIBS OR IT WON'T WORK!),
  10. Open a CLI (or Shell), and type the following;
  11.  
  12. CLI 1> CD RAM:
  13. CLI 1> lha x BBBBSnn.lha
  14. CLI 1> COPY libs/#? LIBS: CLONE
  15. CLI 1> assign BBS: RAM:
  16. CLI 1> CD BBS:rexx
  17. CLI 1> rx bbsLOCAL SETUP
  18.  
  19. This last command runs the sysop "LOCAL" version of the BBS in "SETUP"
  20. mode which creates any needed directories.
  21.  
  22. When it asks for your name enter "sysop".
  23. When it asks for your password enter "password".
  24.  
  25. From that point on you will be seeing the BBS as the user sees it with
  26. the addition of all the super-sysop commands. To see which is which,
  27. read "BBBBS.COMMANDS" in the Information section ("i" from the menu).
  28. For more detailed command information, instructions on how to install,
  29. and general operating instructions, read "BBBBS.doc" in the same area.
  30.  
  31. Now, logoff, type "rx bbsLOCAL", but this time enter "test name", and
  32. observe how a new user signs up. If your test user uploads no files, and
  33. writes no messages, (email is ok), there will be no record of his having
  34. been there after you sign on (as sysop again) and [K]ill "TEST_NAME".

  36. bbsLOCAL.rexx is almost exactly equal to BBBBS.baud with some obvious
  37. exceptions (uload and dload use the arp file requester), and "quick"
  38. logoff (no prompt for feedback).
  39.  
  40. To get the spellchecker that works with this BBS, call Gramma's BBS at
  41. (206) 744-1254 and look in the "BBSTools" library for "bbsSpell.lzh". Or
  42. look for it on BBS everywhere.

  44. Note that Gramma's BBS is using the latest version of this very software!
